ADFIAP invited to green jobs mapping forum

On invitation by the International Labor Organization (ILO), ADFIAP, represented by Mr. Enrique I. Florencio, Head of Knowledge Management Group and Sustainability Officer, attended the “Green Jobs Mapping Project Conversation on Eight Sectors” aimed at examining the state, prospects, drivers and challenges of green jobs generation in the Philippines.

The event, held on June 26, 2012 and co-organized by the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), was participated in by over 200 business leaders, policy makers, and representatives from different sectors, e.g., agriculture, forestry and fisheries, energy, construction, manufacturing, services, tourism, transport, solid waste and waste water management.

The “Green Job Mapping Project” is envisioned to enable the DOLE, in consultation with other government agencies, the private sector, social partners, and sustainable development experts and advocates, with technical and financial support from ILO and the Institute for Global Environment Strategies (IGES), to advance the characterization of green jobs in the country and to facilitate the development of policies in promoting green jobs by the Philippine government.

Mr. Lawrence Jeff Johnson, Philippine Office Director for ILO, gave the welcome remarks while DOLE Undersecretary Hon. Lourdes Transmonte, delivered the keynote speech. Other resource speakers of the event included Mr.Amiel Sarne of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Dr. Jane Romero of IGES and Mr. Manuel Laopao of DOLE.
