ADFIAP networks with other associations at IMEX Frankfurt

Cora ImexADFIAP participated as an invited hosted buyer and joined the Association Day meetings, networking and roundtable discussions at the IMEX Worldwide Exhibition for the MICE industry (meetings, incentives, conferences and events) held from May 20-23, 2013 in Frankfurt, Germany.

IMEX Frankfurt is a major yearly networking event bringing associations together to share best practices, introduce innovative ideas and provide encouragement and inspiration towards the attainment of their respective goals. It is also a venue for exhibitors representing national and regional tourist offices, major hotel groups, airlines, destination management companies and service providers to showcase products and services that cater to various requirements of associations.

Over 300 association executives from Europe, North America, South America and Asia attended the 4-day power-packed professional development and networking event which featured interactive educational tracks for association executives, among which were: “The Quest for Relevance: Free is a Business Model”; “Virtualising and Hybridising your Events”; Innovative Ideas for Growing an Association”; Different Models to Evaluate your Events”; “How to Engage Your Members in a Digital Age”; “How to Build an Effective and Sustainable Congress Strategy” and “Innovative Delivery in Meetings and Events”. Topics for the roundtable discussions included the following: “Association Certification/Accreditation”; “Conference Sponsorship”; “Creative Management Models for Associations”; Entering New Markets: Keys to Success”; “Event Marketing”; “Evolving Membership Models”; “Generating New Revenues”; “Membership Recruitment and/or Retention Tactics”; “Strategic and Business Planning”; “Strategic Alliances and Partnerships”; and “Social Media and Viral Marketing”.

ADFIAP Consulting (AC) Head, Ms. Corazon Conde, who represented ADFIAP in the IMEX event, joined the Association Day discussions on the Operations Track: Innovative Ideas for Growing an Association; Meetings Track: How to Build an Effective and Sustainable Congress Strategy and the roundtable discussion on Generating New Revenues. She also participated in the forum on “ 25+ Strategies for Leadership Success – Regardless of Sex”, facilitated by Ms. Susan Sarfati and Ms. Liz Jackson, CEO of High Performance Strategies, LLC and President of Jackson Consulting, Inc., respectively, both based in Washington, D.C., USA, who invited ADFIAP as an hosted buyer in the event.

Ms. Conde also held meetings with 26 exhibitors and service providers to further enhance future ADFIAP conferences, meetings and training events. She also signed up for the Green Team at IMEX and shared ADFIAP’s advocacy on green financing on the Pledge Wall at the Sustainability Hub. The Green Team’s tasks are to reduce the overall levels of waste output for the exhibition, increase use of sustainable power and promote corporate social responsibility. As Green Team member, she included in her discussions with exhibitors and service providers their sustainability plans and requested information from exhibitors on USB or to be sent electronically rather than collecting printed materials or paper brochures.
