ADFIAP met with and briefed a three-man study mission from Hand-in-Hand, an Indian non-governmental organization with an international outreach working on and advocating for uplifting the situation of the poor through self-help groups (Jobs for Growth), child labour eradication and education, citizens’ centre enterprises, health and environmental programs. The ADFIAP Secretariat and Consulting group discussed, among others, ADFIAP and its members’ work as well as microfinance in the Philippines with Messrs. Hemantha Kumar Pamarthy, N. Jeyaseelan and Srinivas Krishnaswamy, Managing Director and Directors, of Hand-in-Hand Microfinance Limited and Hand-in-Hand India, respectively. The meeting was also an opportunity to explore potential areas of cooperation between the two institutions, particularly in training and capacity-building in the areas of social enterprise and microfinance.
Hand-in-Hand https://www.hihindia.org/ is an Indian public charitable trust registered in 2002 but has been in operation since 1988 in Kancheepuram District in Tamil Nadu. Over time, its activities have expanded based on the demands from the rural communities where it operates and has developed an integrated strategy to address the challenges of poverty and underdevelopment.
