ADFIAP and the Southern African Development Community Development Finance Institutions Network (SADC DFI Network) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate socio-economic development of both the Asia-Pacific and African regions though cooperation in capacity-building efforts and institutional strengthening measures in areas of development finance, human resources and funding. The agreement was signed on November 16, 2012 at the sidelines of the ADFIAP-AADFI 1st Joint CEO Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa (please see separate story).

The MoU will allow both organizations to consult with each other on any program that will benefit from each other’s comparative advantages and experiences as well as to coordinate their efforts to attain more effective development assistance. It will also permit both organizations to collaborate in specialized training and research programs and in mobilizing resources such as financial and technical assistance on projects and programs of common interest. In addition, the MoU aims to develop a DFI staff exchange programme to facilitate the possible secondment and attachment of staff amongst their member-DFIs.

ADFIAP Secretary General, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta, and SADC-DFI Network CEO, Mr. Stuart Kefeni, signed the agreement in the presence of ADFIAP Chairman Datuk Wan Azhar Wan Ahmad and SADC-DFI Network Chairman Mr. Francisco Antonio Souto as well as CEOs and senior officers of their respective members.
