ADFIAP Secretariat receives GCEL officers’ visit on cooperation activities

GCELThe ADFIAP Secretariat was visited at its Manila headquarters on February 19, 2013 by two officers of the Global Coalition for Efficient Logistics (GCEL), namely, Messrs. Gregory D. Bird and Didier Laroche, Deputy Secretary General and Executive Member, respectively. The purpose of the visit was to update ADFIAP on GCEL’s global campaign for the deployment of its Digital Economy Platform (DEP), an integrated system for online commerce, finance, insurance and logistics. Specific areas of discussion and potential cooperation activities covered during the meeting included the request for proposal process (RFP) for the selection and location of GCEL’s Global Technology Development/R&D Center (Core Triangle), the request for information tender and license (RFITL) process to select the 12 finance, 4 insurance and 12 technology gateways that will eventually deploy the DEP, and GCEL’s Global Humanitarian Fund.

In April 2011, on occasion of ADFIAP’s 34th Annual Meetings, a joint ADFIAP-GCEL publication entitled, “Tools and Roadmap for SME Prosperity in the 21st Century” was released as was a joint ADFIAP-GCEL communiqué committing on assisting SMEs worldwide through GCEL’s HumaWealth program and its concomitant projects, including a global SME fund.

Geneva-based GCEL is non-profit, public-private partnership that brings together governments and the private sector to deliver tangible programs to achieve sustainable growth.
