SparcsAdfiapADFIAP and SPARC Asia, Ltd. have signed a partnership agreement to work together with the Association’s development bank-members to provide the underserved and unserved communities with access to information, communication and technology (ICT) capabilities and services that will revitalize these communities, through, among others, improved health and education programs as well as new and innovative commercial and financial services. The signing was held on November 18, 2013 at the ADFIAP Headquarters in Manila, Philippines. ADFIAP Secretary General, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta and SPARC Chairman, George Delmas, signed the agreement.

The program, which will be piloted in the Philippines, will be using the SPARC community ICT infrastructure solution that provides a good mechanism to underserved communities. It will provide these communities with access to e-education, e-health, and e-commerce applications that are focused on the local community requirements using the SPARC’s broadband wireless network architecture that has the quality of service capabilities necessary to support and operate these applications. As an ADFIAP development advocacy initiative, this program will be scaled up across membership in other countries. SPARC stands for Sustainable Progressive Action for the Revitalization of Communities.
