ADFIAP speaks on green computing, sustainability reporting at computer society forum

On invitation of the Philippine Computer Society (PCS), ADFIAP, represented by its Knowledge Management Head and Sustainability Officer, Mr. Enrique Florencio, spoke about sustainability reporting and the role of the technology sector in national sustainable development during the monthly networking meeting of the PCS on November 17, 2011 at the Microsoft Headquarters in Manila, Philippines. The event was attended by about 50 participants from various technology groups, associations and organizations in Manila.

In his presentation, Mr. Florencio discussed the basics in coming up of a sustainability report. He also stressed the important role of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) practitioners, software and hardware developer in promoting green computing. In addition, Mr. Florencio encouraged the participants to effectively address the environmental impacts of computing by adopting a holistic approach and make the entire IT lifecycle greener by addressing environmental sustainability along the following four complementary paths on green use, green disposal, green design, and green manufacturing.
