Indonesian Eximbank joins ADFIAP, ups Membership to 73

PT Bank Ekspor Indonesia (BEI) is the latest member to join the Association whose membership now counts to 73 in 35 countries. BEI functions as an export credit agency which, in most countries, are commonly referred to as an exim bank.

BEI was establish on May 25, 1999 by the Indonesian Government, with the main objective of providing access for Indonesia’s export-related commodities to the world markets. This interrelationship intensifies the level of international trade while, at the same time, substantially improves Indonesia’s economic standing.

BEI was formed on the basis of a Government regulation regarding the capital investment of the Republic of Indonesia to establish a State-owned company operating in the field of commercial banking with developmental objectives.

Since its establishment, BEI has been operating under a special Law separate from the Banking Law. The importance of a legal framework for BEI cannot be overemphasized in view of its overall strategic and specialized function of developing domestic exports by providing competitive export financing, advisory services as well as other export-related developments.
