IDF conducts 4th Level 2 credentialing program

DEVMAN grp picADFIAP’s Asia-Pacific Institute of Development Finance (IDF) conducted the “Development Bank Management Program” (Level 2) credentialing course from November 29-December 3, 2010 at the AIM Training Centre in Makati, Philippines. Nine (9) senior officers, including two CEOs, from ADFIAP member-development banks in Cook Islands, Palau, Samoa, the Philippines, India, and the Federated States of Micronesia, attended the program and were granted the credential “Affiliate in Development Bank Management”. This brings to a total of 44 officers who now have been granted this credential since the program started in 2004.

The DevMan is a two-week program aimed at enhancing the managerial capabilities of DFI officers in development bank management. Module 1 of the program covered “Bank Operation Management and Financial Management” which included topics on financial management system, treasury and risk management, credit analysis for long-term investment projects, loan management, and performance management. Module 2 included “General Management of People” which covered Asian culture in management, analytical tools for problem solving, decision-making and risk management, improving communications and critical aspects of human resources management and training.

The Program Director and main resource person was Dr. Alberto Peña, Professor and Associate Director of the Office of International Studies and Programs at the Illinois State University in the U.S.A. Mr. Orlando P. Pena, former ADFIAP Secretary General and currently President of ABC Consultants, handled Module 2 of the program.
