The Bhutan Development Bank Limited (BDBL) has opened a field office in Sakteb Drungkhag, under the Trashigang Dzongkhag in line with the Bank’s social mandates to take its services to remote areas and as part of the Royal Government of Bhutan’s financial inclusion policy. It envisaged that this new field office will provide farmers an increased accessibility to formal financial services and will also reduce transaction costs and time since the Bank’s services are literally brought to their doorsteps. Despite of the high operational cost for the Bank with existing 33 branch offices and 1 field office in 20 Dzongkhags, the Bank is fully committed to fulfill the Royal Government’s objective to reduce poverty and improve the living standards of the rural households through its wide network service coverage.
