Rationale
The banking community has increasingly recognized the importance of good governance, risk management and compliance (GRC), which are the key pillars or imperatives of effective financial management. GRC has always been of basic concern to businesses, the financial community and to regulators. All stakeholders realize that the benefits of observing GRC outweigh the cost of putting in place processes, procedures and controls that enable its effective implementation.

This training will cover these three GRC imperatives which are inter-related in financial business. The emerging perception of GRC is that it is an integrated set of concepts and when applied holistically within an organization, it can add significant value and provide competitive advantage. Further, the holistic approach would be more efficient, consistent, and legally sound when the Board of Directors, senior management and staff at all levels would be involved in adopting these in the organization’s conduct of business.

GRC should be treated as one package wherein the approach includes governance built on principles and rules, integrated risk management mechanisms to identify, assess and mitigate risks and a defined compliance mechanism that deals with internal and external compliance requirements.

Target participants
Risk Officers, Compliance Officers, Chief Finance Officers, Board Members, Other Executives involved in the GRC functions.

Key Take-away

This training will enable the participants to appreciate the relationship amongst Governance, Risk Management and Compliance and embed these in the organization’s corporate strategy to shape its risk mitigation culture.
