ADFIAP assists JICA-DBSA study mission to Philippine DFI-members

On the request of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), the ADFIAP Secretariat has organized and assisted in the three-day study mission for the JICA-DBSA high-level delegates to four member-DFIs in the country from December 12-14, 2011.

The delegates first visited the ADFIAP Secretariat where they were briefed by the Secretary General, Mr. Octavio B. Peralta, on the current situation of development banking in the Asia-Pacific region as well as the Association’s strategic plans, current work and advocacies, operational structure and business units, including training and professional development. They were also briefed by Ms. Cora Conde, Group Head of the ADFIAP Consulting (AC) on its developed holistic tool – the SME Lending Business Management System. The group then visited the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) where they were briefed on the bank’s wholesale and retail lending operations, infrastructure and logistics, and green finance. They met with Mr. Jose Nunez and Mr. Francisco del Rosario, Chairman and President & CEO, respectively and Mr. Roy Sobrecarey, Chief of Staff of the Chairman’s Office and other DBP senior officers. The delegates’ third visit was at the Landbank of the Philippines where they were briefed on the bank’s agriculture/agri business finance, cooperative finance, and local government finance by Mr. Hermie Bautista of the Bank’s Project Management Department. The fourth visit of the group was at the Planters Development Bank where they were briefed on the Bank’s SME finance by First Vice President, Ms. Bernadette Ratcliffe. The group’s last visit was at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) where they were briefed on the Bank’s infrastructure finance program and its National Infrastructure Information System (NIIS) by Mr. Michael Lindfied and Mr. Joe Lufkin.
