GSFC 6ADFIAP and its partner, the European Organization for Sustainable Development (EOSD) successfully held the 6th Global Sustainable Finance Conference (GCSF 6) in Karlsruhe, Germany on July 14-15, 2016. Over 100 delegates from 35 countries around the world attended the event.

The overall objective of the GSFC is to contribute in the sustainability transformation of the financial services industry by providing an international forum for key stakeholders from across the world to share knowledge and experiences and to work together for a strong, fair, safe and resilient financial services industry that works in harmony with the natural environment.

The conference covered a wide range of sustainable finance topics including, among others, innovating banking and finance for a sustainable future, sustainable banking and finance best practice examples from Russia, Pakistan, Nigeria and Malaysia, climate action and financial institutions, the role of financial institutions on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) 2030, and sustainable finance and local government units. The programme also included a visit at the Fraunhofer Institute, one of the largest and most renown applied research facility in Germany and meeting with ‘green’ start-ups.

The conference was also the occasion for the presentation of the Global Sustainable Finance Awards 2016 (please see related story) recognizing outstanding achievements of financial institutions around the world in sustainable project financing, innovative financial services and business sustainability.
