ADFIAP joins the launching of a sustainable banking academy and delivers a message

On the 6th of May 2022, ADFIAP’s Secretary-General, Enrique Florencio, joined forces with other organizations for the virtual launch of Finance Flows’ Sustainable Banking Academy. He also addressed a group of over a hundred people from both corporate and public sector organizations.

The inauguration of the Finance Flows Sustainable Banking Academy coincides with a growing interest in sustainable finance in Asia-Pacific. Climate change and environmental degradation are increasingly being recognized as a source of financial risk and a danger to financial stability by central banks and supervisors. Regulators and bank supervisors are beginning to provide a variety of regulatory instruments and guidance to encourage financial institutions to adopt more sustainable banking practices.

The Sustainable Banking Academy was co-developed by five organizations: ADFIAP, GRI, ESCAP, UNEP FI, and WWF. It will serve as a platform for financial institutions to be enablers in the transformation of their respective institutions in achieving sustainable goals, learn innovative solutions, and be equipped with the knowledge and skills to recognize the challenges and opportunities associated with financing climate resilience.
