ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General, Octavio B. Peralta, attended IMEX 2010 as hosted buyer on May 25-27, 2010 in Frankfurt, Germany. IMEX is the world’s largest expo for the meetings, incentive, convention and exhibition (MICE) industry. 15,000 delegates, exhibitors, and guests participated in the 3-day event at the Frankfurt Messe, one of the biggest expo and convention centers in Europe.

During the expo, Mr. Peralta met with travel associations and national tourism boards for possible grants and incentives for the different conferences and events that ADFIAP and its Institute of Development Finance (IDF) regularly organize in different countries. ADFIAP’s participation also afforded it to gain knowledge on the latest trends on events organizing, e.g., online registration, contact databasing, etc., as well as best practices of international associations through the “Association Day” segment of the event. In addition, Mr. Peralta met with new contacts in the association industry who could be tapped as potential speakers in ADFIAP events.

ADFIAP’s attendance in big international event such as IMEX is also part of its mainstreaming and visibility initiatives.
