ADFIAP participates in ‘Meet Japan’ convention trade mart & study tour program

On invitation and funding support by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), ADFIAP, represented by its Secretary General, Octavio B. Peralta, participated in the 5-day ‘Meet Japan’ convention trade mart and study tour program that introduced the country’s international convention cities to eleven international association executives.

20 participating convention cities, which were part of the program, span the full geography of Japan, all featuring excellent facilities which meet government standards for suitability to host international meetings. These included Kobe Convention & Visitors Association, Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau, Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau, Miyazaki Convention and Visitors Bureau, Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau, Institute Tsukuba Convention & Tourism Bureau, Chiba Convention Bureau and International Center, Gifu Convention and Visitors Bureau, Matsue Convention Bureau Kunibiki Messe, Sapporo Convention Bureau, Sendai Tourism, Convention and International Association, Kanazawa Convention Bureau, Aichi Nagoya MICE Promotion Council, Okayama Visitors & Convention Association, Okinawa Convention and Visitors Bureau, Hiroshima Convention and Visitors Bureau, Toyama Tourism Organization, Shizuoka Convention and Visitors Bureau, West Japan Industry and Trade Convention Association and Fukuoka Convention and Visitors Bureau. The ‘Meet Japan’ program is financed by subsidies from these international convention cities.

JNTO, Japan’s tourism promotion body, is involved in a broad range of activities to encourage foreign tourists to visit Japan both domestically and overseas. These include, among others, promotion of tourism to Japan, operation of Tourist Information Center in Japan for foreign visitors, administration of guide-interpreter examination, publication of tourism statistics and market reports and providing support for international conventions and incentive events.
