ADFIAP, Planters Bank host ASrIA briefing on climate change & sustainable investment

ADFIAP, in cooperation with its member, Planters Development Bank (PDB), hosted an executive briefing on “Climate Change and Sustainable Investment in Asia” for the Association for Sustainable & Responsible Investment in Asia (ASrIA) and its new initiative called, the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC). The half-day by-invitation-only forum was held on October 25, 2011 at PDB’s SME Center premises in Manila. Including PDB, a total of 20 participants attended the event from Land Bank of the Philippines, Development Bank of the Philippines, Philippine Export-Import Credit Agency, Al-Amanah Islamic Investment Bank of the Philippines, BOT-ASKI Foundation and China Bank.

The briefing, which is part of an ADFIAP and ASrIA cooperation, is aimed at raising awareness of the financial risks and opportunities associated with climate change, and provided learning to as well as knowledge-sharing among the participants to help them in their investment and lending decisions. A sector-specific workshop on measuring the sustainability of real estate investment was also part of the event.

ADFIAP Secretary General Mr. Octavio B. Peralta gave the opening and closing remarks to the participants and moderated the forum. The two main resource persons of the event were ASrIA Chairman, Ms. Alexandra Tracy, who introduced ASrIA and the AIGCC, and Dr. Christine Chow, AIGCC Director.
