ADFIAP’s IDF conducts certificate course on risk management

ADFIAP’s Institute of Development Finance (IDF) conducted a one-week international seminar-workshop on “Risk-Based Credit Appraisal and Management” from May 8-12, 2017 at the St. Giles Hotel in Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines. The course was attended by eight (8) participants from ADFIAP members in Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Bangladesh, and the Philippines.
The seminar was designed to equip loan officers with upgraded credit skills and practical appraisal method as well as provide them with practical quantitative and qualitative techniques of assessing credit risks of small, medium and large projects.
Topics covered in the classrooms lecture and discussions included the risk management process; the 7 risk hurdles; credit risk management system; critical points to remember in the credit risk management; credit risk management framework; best SME lending practices; management risk assessment; market risk assessment; the lending process; understanding financial statements; validation of financial statements; cash flow construction; cash flow analysis; financial ratios; technical risk assessment; assessing credit risk; credit administration; account supervision in risk-based lending; credit review process; and remedial management. Apart from the in-depth classroom lectures and discussions, the seminar also afforded the participants socio-cultural visits around Metro Manila.
The resource persons who shared their insights and expertise on the subject were all members of the ADFIAP Consulting (AC) team, led by Ms. Cora Conde, Atty. Alberto Reyno, Ms. Alrene Orencia; Ms. Cecille Ibarra; Ms. Emy Chavez; Ms. Cristy Aquino, and Ms. Arlene Liberal.
