Eurasian Development Bank announces $0.5 billion financing initiative for Belarusian projects, emphasizing strategic focus on diverse sectors and private sector support

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) plans to finance projects amounting to $0.5 billion in Belarus, according to Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the Management Board of the EDB. Podguzov mentioned that the financing, denominated in various currencies, is part of the ongoing work on the Belarusian portfolio. While specific project details are yet to be disclosed, he highlighted the involvement in the Prilesie-Logistics project, a significant logistics complex, and the funding of Alcopack, a company specializing in medical packaging. The EDB’s focus on traditional sectors such as transport, energy, technology, and medicine, and occasional engagement in the financial sector aligns with its profile, emphasizing project financing and support for the private sector. Podguzov expressed confidence in meeting targets for Belarus within the strategic period of 2022-2026.
