NABARD launches an awareness campaign for climate change and agricultural diversification

To meet market demand, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has launched an awareness campaign to educate farmers about climate change and the necessity of crop diversification, particularly millet production. At a session in Sircilla on Friday, NABARD AGM P Manohar Reddy discussed the changing environmental scenario, which included extreme temperatures, rainfall, and humidity. Cropping season changes and unusual precipitation influenced the farming sector, he added.

He advised farmers to vary their planting patterns, noting that the NABARD will fund them through the National Climate Change Adaptation Fund (NAFCC). Agricultural College principal Uma, district horticulture officer Jyothi, LDM Mallikarjun Rao, and district fisheries officer Suryaprasad all emphasized the need for crop diversification and millet production.
